Babes In Plantland: Nicholas Scimeca

Babes In Plantland: Nicholas Scimeca

My friend Nick and I have had some crazy adventures together over the years. Like opening a bar in Chicago and then opening another branch of that bar in Barcelona (in a week, without knowing any Spanish). Or the time Nick landed us at one of my favorite musician’s house parties, dancing until 5am (hint: he’s an infamous R&B singer).

We’ve had some pretty wild times…but I think I’ve had even more fun simply sharing my new lifestyle with him. Nick’s been eating veg since I met him. And when I told him that I had changed my diet too, he didn’t get all I-was-here-first or ask me what took so long. He did just the opposite. He asked me for new recipes, juicer recommendations, and new cookbooks I loved. He was excited for us to share. He made me feel good about what I was doing and it only encouraged me to do more. And that was pretty cool. Here’s to Nick the newest BIPL!

More on Nick:

Name: Nicholas Scimeca

Sign: The only plant-based astrology sign in the zodiac, Capricorn.

Relationship Status (with plants): I’ve been a veg for 11 years. As far as relationship status goes I think that makes me a married man.

Turn ons:
The Buffalo Cauliflower at Mohawk Bend in LA. And when restaurants have a nice dish on their menu that I don’t have to modify to make it veg.

Turn offs: When restaurants have a portobello mushroom dish as their only vegetarian option.

Favorite plant discovery:
Beyond Meat, a plant-based protein that emulates chicken. I am absolutely obsessed with it. A total game changer for me. Hands down the best product I’ve found in my 11-year search.

Favorite way to eat your greens: I really like to drink my greens using my Omega 8006.

A quote that inspires you: Life is what you make it.

Go-to dish at home with 5 ingredients or less:  My breakfast shake: 1.5  frozen bananas, 1 cup almond milk, 1 tbsp flax oil, 2 tbsp all-natural peanut butter, 1 tbsp ground hemp seed. Put it in a blender. Fall in love. It tastes like real ice cream and there’s not a trace of junk food.

Restaurant you want to planticize (offer plant-based dishes): Every fast food chain should have at least 1 solid plant-based item. Having a go-to in every major city in the world would make things a lot easier. I think connecting Beyond Meat with 1 major fast food chain could solve this problem.

Must have plantry item:
Sriracha

Fill in the blank: Plants make me…full every day.

I forgot to mention Nick has a pretty awesome web/design company called We Can’t Stop Thinking. They’ve designed sites for everyone from Lady Gaga’s producer DJ White Shadow to Optimo Hats. He’s one talented man.

    Nicholas,

I’m a Capricorn but never heard that it is the only plant-based astrology sign in the zodiac.

I’m wondering how you arrived at that?

He was just making a little joke…Capri “CORN”. Get it? Nick is a jokester.
