A New Food Documentary…and One Part Plant is in it!
I’m not sure if I can even explain to you how excited I am about filmmaker Michal Siewierski’s new documentary, Food Choices. I’m a food movie addict. I usually (always) cry during those moments in food films where someone’s life gets transformed by good food.
And now I’m one of those people whose transformation is being featured. Which made me cry x 2. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d get to share my story in such a big way. And next to some pretty big names! Dr. McDougall, Joe Cross (Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead), and Karen Calabrese are all in the film. Not to mention OPP contributors Ashlee Piper and my bud De’Mar Hamilton.
Michal is an incredible human being whose own life has been transformed by his food choices. I have gotten to know him over the filming, and I can tell you he’s the real deal. Kind, thoughtful, and genuinely wanting to help change peoples’ lives with this film. So far he’s funded the film by himself, and he could really use your help with the rest. He has an Indiegogo campaign where even $1 can help. For all the Kickstarters, 5Ks, and Girl Scouts I’ve helped fund in my day…I have no shame asking for help on this one on behalf of Michal and his project.
This movie is gonna be BIG. And not just because of its baller premiere party or Netflix like-ability, but because it’s going to help people think about their health in a new way and encourage some pretty big change.
Check out the trailer and let me know what you think! And then share the trailer with a friend.
You can see more about the film on the Food Choices website.
See you at that baller premiere – I’ll be the one in the big hat.
Do you have a favorite food movie? Tell me!

September 28, 2016i like most of the food documentaries that have been produced…especially the recent one titled That Sugar Movie…very informative. I tried watching Food Choices but from the beginning it was very biased and made broad sweeping generalizations…so much so that I could not continue. I really wanted to see this movie and thought it would be good.
The best thing about the movie was the beginning quote about the illusion of knowledge being a bigger obstacle than ignorance. This quote kept running in my thoughts as he kept interviewing biased people making over-generalizations about food choices.

September 29, 2016Hey Food Guy, appreciate you coming on to voice your opinion. I get it. It’s not for everyone. If you like docs about food – Sugar Coated is GREAT. Available to stream on Netflix now too!

October 12, 2016Thanks for the suggestion…it was a good documentary. It covered a lot of the same information from “that sugar movie” documentary.

January 7, 2017Thanks, Food Guy. I *really* wanted to like Food Choices, but I had the exact same viewing experience. Lots of good information, but some very biased info, along with a small amount of the very thing they were complaining about – poor or incomplete understanding of science, then a good dose of indoctrination. And I’m already like minded and mostly plant based. I had to turn it off. Still looking for someone to give us bias-free, science-based info on healthy human diet, amid all the ultra extreme, finger pointing, all-or-nothing noise.

January 8, 2017Dang. Sorry you did not enjoy. Have you seen Food Matters and Hungry for Change? Maybe more up your alley!
