For Reals Meals (Sweet Tooth Edition) Hosted By Miss Renaissance

I first got to know Eva Daiberl (aka Miss Renaissance) at Amanda Puck’s For Reals Meals. Before the meal was over, we’d become fast friends and she asked if she could host one herself…but with all desserts. Um, yeah. Eva is a trained pastry chef and also has one of the coolest homes I’ve ever seen, so I was pretty excited to see what she had in mind.
Her invite list was full of fashion-heads and photographers: Emma Arnold, Jared Hatch, Alison Fraker, Jamon Deaver, and Daniel Kelleghan. And let’s not forget about former FRM’s guest Jena Gambaccini. When she got wind of the dessert-themed brunch hosted by Eva, she wasn’t going to miss it. She has a thing for desserts, and I have a thing for how sweet she is…so Jena was there too. She always makes a party more fun.

Beet dyed menus
Once I got a sneak preview of Eva’s menu (Coconut-Vanilla Chia Seed Pudding, Sweet Flax Energy Bites, Lemon Pound Cake, Red Beet & Poppy Seed Muffins), I knew I had to do something special with the menus. I juiced a few beets and used them to paint dots on the menu stock. And in crazy coincidence world, Eva chose dots for her table setting too. I swear we didn’t plan it.

All of the desserts were insanely good. So good that we all had second and thirds. But as good as the desserts were, my favorite part of the meal had to do with Eva…and what a warm and wonderful host she was. She went around the table to each person and had them talk about themselves, and asked questions to make everyone feel special and included. It truly was a very sweet day.
Thanks to Eva and Emma for sharing their photos for this post.
And tomorrow, one of Eva’s dessert recipes!

June 14, 2013Thanks, Kristen! Eva’s desserts were insane. She’s such a perfectionist – she made the lemon pound cake three times until she got it right. Totally taste-test worthy.
