I am a woman of convenience. I would rather live in a not-so-cool neighborhood that has all the “stuff” I need than live in a cool one. My neighborhood has to have grocery stores, markets, trains/buses, and restaurants right outside my door. I like walking places, and I don’t like to wait long to get to them. I’ve lived this way for the past 12 years in Chicago. But then there’s OPP restaurant partner Found, which breaks all of my weird rules.
Found sits right outside of Chicago proper in the cool little town of Evanston. It’s for sure not right outside my door, so I rent a car or take a nice train ride to get there. And when I get there, it’s usually always packed with a bit of a wait…but for some reason none of these things matter to me. I just love the food that much.
Owner Amy Morton grew up in a family that owns one a super-famous steakhouse brand, and I’m guessing that she never imagined that she would have one of the most veg-friendly restaurants around. She and chef Nicole Pederson have created beautiful dishes that accommodate plant eaters, meat eaters, and everyone in between – from an open-faced squash and mushroom sandwich to one the best kale salads you’ll ever have. There’s truly something for everyone (without even asking for substitutions)!
I’m so proud that Found is one of OPP’s partners in crime. The food is fresh, seasonal, and just some of the best I’ve tasted in a long time. And it doesn’t hurt that you get to experience it all in the boho-Parisian styled interior. Each little corner feels intimate and warm, with salvaged furniture and eclectic details that make you sorta never want to leave.
