Episode 81: Change Your Plate and Transform Your Life With Julie Piatt

This week I’m talking to author, podcast host, chef, meditation guide, and singer (she does a lot of things), Julie Piatt. We discuss her new book(s), the impact of plant-based eating for our bodies and our planet, creating a judgement-free home, and why cheese is so nuts.

Loved this one. The best book I’ve read this year was probably How to be both. The last book I read was the Moon Juice cookbook (after listening to this podcast).

I really enjoyed this episode… I have fallen off the plant-based lifestyle the last few months (lots of travelling and accommodating guests etc) and this has inspired me to get back into a mainly plant-based routine.

The last book I read was The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah — highly recommend!

Enjoying this season so much! The last book I read was a new release by Katherine Heiny called “Standard Deviation” – a novel that made me laugh out loud many times on a long flight. Highly recommend it!

    What a great episode!

After going plant based 4 years ago alongside my Dad (he chose to go plant-based to treat his cancer instead of the radiation/chemo route-and guess what! It worked!) I have never looked back.

The last thing I read was the Moon Juice Cosmic Cooklet from my first Moon Juice Dust shipment yesterday!

Loved this episode and found a new podcast to start listening to, great guest!
The last thing I read was the back of premixed cake box (trying to find cheap vegan treat hacks)

I’ve been revisting my love of fiction and just finished “The Corrections” by Jonathan Franzen. Sharp and smart and darkly hilarious, it’s the story of a dysfunctional (or maybe just utterly normal, given how families are) family: aging Midwestern parents trying to get their East Coast children back to their hometown for one last Christmas together. Highly recommended, if you like a little darkness with your humor.

I love listening to Julie, she’s so different from me and that always feels so refreshing. Planning to buy it when I finish doing the recipes in the Eat to Live cookbook.

As a vegan I follow a nutritarian (Dr. Furhman) approach to eating, and I could understand the protocol from the other doctor the other day, but the whole lectins issue is solved for the most part by cooking techniques, for example the whole leave legumes, quinoa, brown rice, etc out of the list when you can soak and pressure cook them is so weird, I even checked his book and he confirms that by doing that you eliminate the lectin, so what’s the deal?!. i liked the interview anyway because I love yo hear about things that are not in my radar and he seems to really care about his patients.

I recently found your podcast and I’m really enjoying it, thanks! OMG and I heard the whole BookDeal series in one day, your 2016 was as aweful as mine, I’m glad you had the joy of the book deal.
