Love Letters vs. Booty Calls

I love Dr. Hyman. He makes everything so simple and clear, doesn’t he? Our food is comprised of hundreds of messages to our genes, letting them know how to express themselves. Unfortunately, we don’t get to choose our genes and very few of us are born with perfect ones, but we do get to choose how to take care of them.
How are you sending your messages? With beautiful love notes (healthy foods) or booty calls (junk)? Those late night booty calls can be lots of fun, but just like crappy food, you end up feeling a little gross about yourself in the morning.
This week, treat your genes with some respect. Choose a couple of meals that send messages of health and wealth. Maybe it’s a fresh juice for breakfast instead of a muffin or simply swapping out your Jiffy for a natural almond butter at lunch. Whatever you decide to do, try your best to let your genes know how much you love them…and I swear, they’ll love you back.
Check in with super-babe Dr. Hyman for more great wellness tips and recipes. And in the comments, tell me a little tweak you want to make this week to your daily routine.

March 20, 2013Both days this week, I swapped out my typical oatmeal/cereal/carby-y breakfast for a homemade fruit smoothie! Aren’t you so proud?
