No Bake Flax Energy Bites Recipe From Miss Renaissance

There’s a fork in the photo, but ain’t nobody got time for that. These are so good that you’ll eat them in two bites. They were the hit of Miss Renaissance’s For Reals Meals. And now the hit of your kitchen.
{ No Bake Flax Energy Bites }
1/3 cup oats
1/4 cup flax seed meal
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut
1/3 cup mini carbob chips (or very dark chocolate bits)
1/4 cup unsweetened natural almond butter
3 tablespoons maple syrup
Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl and stir well. Scoop bite-sized portions and roll into balls. Lightly coat with extra coconut flakes to keep from getting too sticky. Keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

June 23, 2013My understanding is that flax seeds must be ground up to be of nutritional value. Whole seeds will simply pass through your system. Is this incorrect? Or should we grind the seeds and incorporate the result in these ‘energy bites?’ Thanks.

June 23, 2013Lethe,
Thank you for your comment! You are totally right and Miss Renaissance did mean “meal” not just the whole seeds. Sorry that wasn’t clear. Only way to get this awesome texture. Thanks for taking note and I will make that change.
