One Part Pledge / A Challenge By Adina Grigore Of Skin Cleanse

One Part Pledge / A Challenge By Adina Grigore Of Skin Cleanse

This month’s challenge is brought to you by my friend and natural-skincare wonder woman, Adina Grigore, of S.W. Basics and the new book Skin Cleanse. You might remember her from, well, like a million posts on this site…because I’m obsessed with her. Remember a couple weeks ago, when I gave you that awesome three-ingredient face mask? That was her. See why I love her so much?

She’s bringing a doozy of a challenge this month, and you might already have an idea of what it is…but you’re still going to have to listen to find out for sure.

Here’s Adina with her challenge:

Remember – if you decide to take on the challenge, here are some ways to make your pledge…

1. Take the pledge and keep it to yourself. Tell no one or maybe just your best friend at dinner. Write it in your diary. Say it out loud to your bathroom mirror. Do you.

2. Take the pledge and share in the comments here. It’s a great place to talk with fellow pledgers. And also a great place to ask any questions you might have about the challenge.

3. Take the pledge and tweet it. Share on Twitter and tag it with #onepartpledge and #skincleanse. Challenge someone else you know to take part in it. These things are always easier with friends.

4. Take the pledge and Instagram it. Take a photo of yourself holding up the OPP hand sign (it’s above) or a photo of you doing the challenge. You don’t even have to show your face. Get creative with it. And make sure to tag me, so I see you! #onepartpledge and #skincleanse works here too.

If you miss a challenge or aren’t ready for it right now, that’s ok. This isn’t like an episode of Game of Thrones. You can miss one and still know what the hell is going on.

Let’s do it!!

Go back and check out Adina’s first interview with me. It’s the first time she talked about her book. Basically One Part Podcast broke the story or I’m just really nosey.

I really enjoyed this podcast and I’m totally taking the pledge! I was just wondering, after you quit all of your products cold turkey, how long did it take for your face to clear up?
    Thank you!

Amanda, it’s been awhile – so hard for me to remember exactly. But I would say within a month things started getting better. I didn’t give up makeup at the time – but I stopped using all my face washes, scrubs, astringents, toners, and all the other gooey things I used. I would highly suggest getting Adina’s book, Skin Cleanse. She is the expert on this stuff and got rid of all her skin problems too! Thanks for taking the pledge!!!

I just wanted to chime in and say that if you do it Skin Cleanse style, meaning a full break for a few days, you should at least notice a difference on day 1! But yes, fully clear skin takes a bit longer, like Jess says. 🙂

I started the pledge a few days ago because I have been breaking out like crazy and it’s embarrassing for an almost 30 year old to have so much acne. I had horrible acne in my early twenties and one day decided to quit cold turkey with all the products and it totally cleared up for years. Not sure why it decided to make a comeback (well, maybe it’s the incredible amount of stress from grad school and my sugar and dairy fueled diet [which is why I’ve started listening to the show, I’m sick of feeling sick]).

I’ve caught myself apologizing to people the past few days for my lack of makeup. I realized today how messed up that is, it’s like “I’m sorry for my face.” It’s definitely been a lesson in being vulnerable and learning to like myself.

Julie, wow. Thank you so much for sharing this here. This challenge is so much for than just no makeup…it is so much about learning to like yourself. I think so many of us struggle with that. I will say that in Adina’s book she does talk about dairy being a culprit of some skin problems. Maybe check it out and do a deep dive into that section. Again, thanks so much for sharing!
