You surely know by now that I am a huge fan of Chicago’s Trenchermen. They were the first ever OPP restaurant partner. So when Chef Sheerin asked me stop by to try out their new Meatless Monday prix fixe menu, I was SUPER excited. And it’s not just meatless – these three courses are 100% plant-based too! If you don’t make it today – or even next Monday – that’s ok. Chef Sheerin says they are going to start offering a Meatless Monday prix fixe on a regular basis. Pretty exciting.
The menu will change depending on what’s in season, but take a look at the goods right now:
Tuscan kale veloute, smoked marrow beans, papadam
Heirloom tomatoes, fresh herbs, and red wine vinaigrette sorbet
Mapo tofu, carrots, pecans, and charred eggplant jus
At the tasting, the crew at Trenchermen were eating a bite or two of everything, discussing, and then moving on. I, on the other hand, ate way more than a couple of bites and was basically licking my plate clean. The red wine vinaigrette sorbet with heirloom tomatoes was one of my most favorite things I’ve ever eaten. Can’t wait to see what new dishes fall and winter will bring!
